AdConnector, operated by AdvocatesConnect Uganda ("we", "us", "our"), is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform at advocates-connect.com and any related services. Please read this policy carefully. By using AdConnector, you consent to the practices described herein.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account Registration: Full name, email address, password, and professional role.
- Practitioner Profiles: Professional biography, specializations, office address, phone number, Law Council registration number, educational history, certifications, profile photo, and video introduction.
- Appointment Bookings: Client name, phone number, email, and legal matter description.
- Payment Information: Billing details processed through PesaPal. We do not store full card numbers or mobile money PINs.
- Communications: Messages sent through our in-app messaging system between clients and practitioners.
- Reviews & Feedback: Ratings and written reviews submitted about practitioners.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent, search queries, and click patterns.
- Device Information: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
- Location Data: Approximate location derived from IP address; precise GPS location only if you grant permission for proximity search features.

2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and profile on the platform.
- To facilitate appointment bookings between clients and practitioners.
- To process subscription payments and maintain billing records.
- To send appointment confirmations, reminders, and service notifications via email.
- To display practitioner profiles to prospective clients in the directory.
- To verify practitioner credentials submitted for review.
- To improve platform functionality, fix bugs, and conduct internal analytics.
- To comply with applicable Ugandan law, including the Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- To respond to your customer support queries.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Sharing of Information
We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Between Users: Practitioner profile information (name, specializations, contact details, location) is visible to all platform visitors. Client information is shared with the practitioner for a specific appointment booking.
- Service Providers: We share data with trusted third-party vendors who operate under strict data processing agreements, including payment processors (PesaPal), email delivery services, cloud hosting, and analytics providers.
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose information to law enforcement, regulatory authorities, or courts if required by Ugandan law or valid legal process.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred to the successor entity. You will be notified of any such change.
- With Your Consent: For any other purpose, only with your express written consent.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational security measures including:
- TLS/SSL encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers.
- Secure, access-controlled cloud infrastructure with regular security audits.
- Password hashing using cryptographic algorithms (passwords are never stored in plain text).
- Role-based access controls limiting which staff can access personal data.
- Regular backups and disaster recovery protocols.
Despite our best efforts, no internet transmission is completely secure. You use the platform at your own risk. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by applicable law.
4A. Absolute Disclaimer of Liability — Data & Platform Use
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY THE LAWS OF UGANDA:
ADVOCATESCONNECT UGANDA, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, CONTRACTORS, SUCCESSORS, AND ASSIGNS (COLLECTIVELY, "ADVOCATESCONNECT") SHALL NOT BE LIABLE — WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, STATUTE, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL OR EQUITABLE THEORY — FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, COST, OR EXPENSE OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH:
- Any unauthorised access to, alteration of, or disclosure of your personal data, including as a result of a security breach beyond our reasonable control.
- Any loss of data, loss of profits, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, or any other direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.
- Any reliance placed by you on information collected or processed by us under this Privacy Policy.
- Any failure, delay, interruption, suspension, or restriction of our data processing systems or services.
- Any acts or omissions of third-party service providers (including payment processors, email providers, or cloud hosting services) who process data on our behalf.
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF ADVOCATESCONNECT TO YOU UNDER THIS PRIVACY POLICY EXCEED UGX 100,000 (ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND UGANDA SHILLINGS). THIS LIMITATION APPLIES EVEN IF ADVOCATESCONNECT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
NOTHING IN THIS DISCLAIMER SHALL EXCLUDE LIABILITY FOR DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY GROSS NEGLIGENCE, OR FOR FRAUD OR FRAUDULENT MISREPRESENTATION, TO THE EXTENT THAT SUCH EXCLUSION IS PROHIBITED BY UGANDAN LAW.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Practitioner profile data is retained for the duration of your subscription plus 2 years thereafter. Appointment and transaction records are retained for 7 years to comply with Ugandan tax and financial record-keeping obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at info@advocates-connect.org.
6. Your Rights Under Ugandan Law
Under the Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019 (Uganda), you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure: Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations).
- Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.

7. Children's Privacy
AdConnector is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
8. Third-Party Links
Our platform may contain links to external websites, including practitioner firm websites and legal resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing any personal information.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify registered users by email. Your continued use of AdConnector after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
